Introduction: Since patients with cough variant asthma (CVA) constitute a large proportion of patients in general practice, simple diagnostic markers for CVA are needed. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the usefulness of Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) in the diagnosis of CVA.Methods: We used Mostgraph as FOT device and established the normal ranges of measurement results from healthy subjects (n = 105, male 46, female 59). We also measured the patients with CVA without comorbid diseases (n = 458, male 121, female 337) and compared measurement values. Results : We found that exhaled values of R5-R20, X5, and Fres showed abnormal value in a large proportion of patients with CVA. We established the diagnostic criterion for CVA using Mostgraph. The sensitivity of the criterion was 66% and specificity was 97%.Conclusion : In the diagnosis of CVA, mostgraph is a useful FOT device by which results are readily available.
