Description

Patients often live with serious lung disease for many years before they become eligible for hospice. As the field of palliative care has matured to encompass symptom management, quality of life, distress related to serious illness, and reconciling medical care with personal values, palliative care has become a valuable option for outpatients living with serious lung disease. These patients and their caregivers are required to manage a sophisticated care plan with minimal support between medical visits. The interprofessional palliative care team can mitigate some of their burden. In this session, practical expertise on starting and building an outpatient interprofessional palliative care practice will be explored.
