The diagnosis and treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) continues to evolve at a rapid pace. As minimally invasive biopsy techniques have become increasingly ubiquitous the chest physician has developed into the lynch pin in the management of newly diagnosed patients. This session will provide clinicians with insight into the newest approaches to optimize diagnostics, sample preservation and methods to improve tissue yield for testing in NSCLC. In addition, attention will be paid to molecular and immune targets in NSCLC and their associated therapies. Finally, we will discuss the need and methods for improved communication between members of the multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team.
