Description

Thoracic computed tomography (CT) can visualize lung structures up to 2mm enabling detailed analysis of the airway and vascular tree. Changes in the lung parenchyma can also be quantitatively assessed based on density distributions. But, to better understand structural changes at the level of the alveoli, it is essential to increase image resolution. Micro CT offers the ability to image structures of up to 1µm in preserved tissue samples. This seminar will enable learners to apply design based stereology to study the lung pathology by using multi-resolution CT of human lungs.
