The session will cover recent advances in the management of pleural infection and specifically empyema. This will include discussion of imaging, intracellular thrombolytics and DNAase and antibiotic therapy. Professor Waterer will cover current optimal management of community-acquired pneumonia including recent research advances, non-antibiotic management and the optimal therapy bundle.
