The learner will be presented with an interactive discussion on the role of modern non-culture assays (e.g., PCR, antigen assays) that can be performed on BAL fluid collected from immunocompromised hosts with suspected infection to increase the yield of traditional diagnostic methods such as culture and direct examination.
