Although chronic bronchitis (CB) has been independently associated with numerous adverse outcomes, much remains to be learned regarding this condition. Why do some nonsmokers get it and some smokers do not? Why does it persist in some smokers despite quitting? Is CB just a pulmonary disorder or a systemic one? CB may not be as chronic as once thought, it can be independent of COPD, new risk factors are being discovered, and new discoveries in its pathophysiology have led to the development of new treatment options. This session will cover the latest literature on CB and its implications for management.
