Lung cancer screening is the first screening program in the United States for which a mandatory counseling and shared decision making visit is a condition for reimbursement. This session will introduce attendees to the principles and practice of shared decision making. Using examples from lung cancer screening and latent tuberculosis consultations, participants will be provided with practical strategies on how to implement shared decision making in their clinical practice including the use of decision aids during the clinical encounter. This session will be of value to anyone wanting to learn more about shared decision making in pulmonary care.
